Recall of our Micro Star children’s sleeping bag

As backpack pioneers and sleeping bag experts, with over 125 years’ experience, at deuter we take our responsibilities seriously – especially when it comes to children’s safety. Which is why we’ve decided to carry out a product recall for our Micro Star children’s sleeping bag, which was launched in March 2025.

As part of our in-house quality controls and thanks to feedback from users, we have determined that smaller children could slide down fully into the sleeping bag. This may lead to a potentially dangerous breathing situation – especially if the sleeping bag is being used unsupervised.

Which product does this affect?

The following children’s sleeping bag is affected by the product recall:

Sold from March 2025 via our online store and through brick-and-mortar retail stores & online.

Product identification numbers (on the label inside the sleeping bag):

  • 3722025-2293
  • 3722025-9908
  • 3722025-1399

Important: All other deuter sleeping bags and products are not affected and can continue to be used safely.

What does it mean?

In some cases, children could slide fully into the Micro Star while they sleep. The neck (or head opening) of the inner sleeping bag is stretchy and can overextend. As a result, children can slip down into the sleeping bag, posing a risk of suffocation. The danger is increased when the inner and outer sleeping bags are used together, as the neck opening of the outer bag is also designed to extend. 

This potential suffocation risk is a situation we cannot ignore.

As a responsible business, we have therefore decided to initiate a product recall.

What should I do if I own one of these sleeping bags?

 

  1. Please stop using it.
  2. Return it – either to the retailer you bought it from, or directly via our online store.
  3. Receive refund – you will be given a full refund of the purchase price

 

How returns work:

Purchased from a brick-and-mortar retail store?

Please take your sleeping bag back to the store you bought it from or contact the customer service department of online retailers.

Or fill in the following form, generate a returns slip, and then send it back to us free of charge.

Purchased from the deuter online store?

Then simply use our returns form.

Because children’s safety is extremely important to us. During in-house test and thanks to feedback from users, we have determined that it is possible for children to slide down into the sleeping bag – which could pose a risk of suffocation. That’s why we are taking immediate action.

The recall only affects the Micro Star children's sleeping bag, regardless of color or date of purchase.

No. Please do not continue to use the product - not even temporarily. We strongly advise against further use for safety reasons.

No. Only the Micro Star children’s sleeping bag is affected.
All other deuter products can continue to be safely used as normal.

You can return your sleeping bag back to the store or online retailer you bought it from.

Or fill out the following form, generate a returns slip and send it back to us free of charge.

If purchased online directly form deuter, then simply fill out a returns form at deuter.com. The full cost of the product will be refunded to you.

Yes, after receiving the product we will refund the full purchase price.

If you purchased the product from a specialist retailer, the refund will be made via the retailer.

We are currently unable to offer the Micro Star children's sleeping bag as a replacement.

No, the inner and outer sleeping bag must be returned.

Please inform the person who received the gift of the recall as soon as possible. The return and refund can also be made by them.
